The Coaches of Stickhead
Chris Cos has been involved with Alabama youth lacrosse since 2004 and has participated in lacrosse at some level since 1974. Chris grew up in the Hudson Valley region of New York and attended North Rockland HS and graduated from Castleton State College in Vermont. Coach Cos started Faceoff Alabama and Bamalax Select Lacrosse to help grow the sport of lacrosse in the greater Birmingham area and throughout the state. In 2011 Chris merged forces with Stickhead Lacrosse based out of Louisville, KY. Chris current resides outside of Washington DC with his wife Valerie and daughters Kendall and Taylor.
Coach Scott Howe Sr. was a 4 Year Letterman in lacrosse at the University of Virginia, and member of the 1972, Division I National Championship Team. With his leadership the KY now enjoys the
growing sport of lacrosse, boasting over 24 teams statewide. St. Xavier have been
back to the Finals every year except one, taking home the Title in 2001, 2002, 2003,
2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014. Coach Howe coached the West All-Star Team
in the 2009 National Senior Showcase Games and has coached multiple High School
All-Americans and players who have gone on and played competitive college lacrosse at
the Division I, II, and III levels. More recently, Coach Howe was named the KSLL Metro Boy’s Coach of the Year in 2013 & 2014.
Shawn Hamill is originally from Salisbury, MD where he attended Worcester Preparatory School ('89). He continued his educational studies at Washington College ('93) in Chestertown, MD where he played college lacrosse. Shawn received a Master's of Education from Xavier University ('95) in Cincinnati, OH. Shawn has been instrumental in the development of a boy's officiating association for the state of Kentucky, as well as serving as the Louisville, KY high school boy's official assignor. He currently serves on the Bluegrass Lacrosse Official's Association as the US Lacrosse rules interpreter for KY. Shawn is a certified collegiate official and officiates all levels of lacrosse including NCAA, MCLA, collegiate club, high school and youth. Shawn was recognized by area high school head coaches as Kentucky's "Man of the Year" in 2004 & 2012. Shawn is a resident of Middletown, KY where he lives with his wife Holly and two children Connor & Kate.
